This Christmas angel or communion rails angel, originated from the Netherlands. The inscription on the banding translates to Today Jesus Christ is born.
The angel is carved from a solid piece of wood and is coated with gesso grosso, a mixture of chalk and animal glue. Gold leaf and matte paint add the brilliant color.
