Orlando, Florida THE MARIAN CONGRESS 2010: THE ROLE OF MARY IN CHRISTIAN PRAYER by Tomás Evans The Marian Congress 2010 will be a spectacular opportunity to understand the role of Mary, the Mother of God, in our Salvation History and Catholic teaching on devotionals to Mary. The Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine is resplendent for the opening liturgy on October 22 where sacred music sung by the Shrine Choir and parish choirs and the praying of the Rosary will be offered in various languages followed by a crowning of the Blessed Mother and Liturgy of the Hours. Father Eduardo Chavez is the keynote speaker on Saturday, October 23 offering his address in English and Spanish. Father Eduardo Chavez is one of the most renowned experts on the Guadalupe apparitions and the postulator of St. Juan Diego’s cause for sainthood. He is the first Dean of the Catholic University Lumen Gentium of the Archdiocese of Mexico, co-founder and Dean of the Higher Institute for Guadalupan Studies and honorary Canon of the Guadalupe Basilica. A traditional program of the Office of Hispanic Ministry for sixteen years, the Marian Congress 2010 is organized under the Diocese of Orlando Secretariat of Evangelization.
